My dream job...

After the past two-long-pulling your hair out type of-weeks at work, I have now decided that if I could just blog all day long and share my ideas with other brides, mother of the brides, etc. I would be happily ever after. It's a dream, thats unrealistic, however some of you have emailed me asking for tips or photos about wedding stuff.  Maybe theres a way to use my art and psych degrees in the wedding world??  Hmmm... On a side note, I share with you this...

The wedding channel has its own awards just for wedding blogs!  There are different sections for different types of blogs, like budget weddings or DIY weddings.  Though my blog is kinda a mix of everything the category I would be under would be REAL BRIDE, I think, because I am, like I said earlier, not doing this for my job or anything like that, YEEEEET.

I *heart* his hair (but don't tell him that)

Hair. You wouldn't think its that big of a deal but when it comes to events that require lots of pictures, it is.  Ck is notoooorious for shaving his head the day before school pictures or before a homecoming dance.  I have a long talk with him the night before picture day (remember we've been together since we were 14) and we discuss what he is going to wear and practice showing his pearly whites and then he makes some comment about how I'm making a bigger deal then needed.

Listen, someone told me a long time ago, that you should treat life as if it was a runway -Ck will never understand this.  (though I must confess sometimes I go grocery shopping in my sweatpants on Sundays-but I'm working on that.)  Anyway, we have this discussion about how he is going to act in his photo, rolling eyes and all, and then he takes me home.  When I picked him up in the morning for school, his head is shaved.  Devastation sets in.  Ok, dramatics aside, he looks cute to me no matter what his hair looks like, but I absolutely love his hair long.  It's been years, years, I tell you since it's been like this. 

A year and half ago it was getting long and I played it cool like I didn't care if he shaved it or not (ohh the tricks we have to play) and it worked.  He kept it growing.  Then his GMom said "I love your hair like this.  When you get married this is how you should have your hair".   I kid you not the boy shaved his head that freakin night! Ugggh! 

However, now that he is getting married and has his two favorite ladies pushing for the long, crazy, Italian curls, he almost doesn't really have a choice.  Remember when I talked about his uncle's wedding we went to last weekend?  Well this was the first time we have seen a lot of his family members and the first time they have seen his long hair.  Most of the women smiled as the couldn't help but put their fingers through it and the men just laughed, shaking their heads.  Ck claims he is getting made fun of at work for his hair.  I questioned if it were men or women, because most women aren't really complaining!!! 

Ck search for hair inspirations  of "other fools who have no choice on their hair" and came across this character from one of his favorite movie series that he dragged me to every year...

And then I got a little concerned that he would flip out when his google search lead him to a character of one of my favorite movie series that I dragged him to every year...

Oh man, he does kinda have the Edward thing going on, and I swear, I never thought of that before!  (you should know the CK hates anything that is trendy or cool, so he would think this is very uncool if someone compared them together so I assured him they looked nothing alike :) ).

Oh yea and on that note, don't tell him he looks like a Gotti boy either, or he will def. shave his head.

But at last here is a sneak peak at his current hair status from his Uncle's wedding last weekend.  It's getting pretty long.  I know he is going to have to trim it because its pretty long.  Now, just so you know, if I do something he hates, I am threatened with "I don't give a sh*t, I will shave my head if you...." buy another thing pink (is usually the end of that sentence) hahah. (p.s.- notice the pink on us-yay!)

Anyone have hair restrictions on themselves or the groom's head for their wedding?

The necklaces, my favorite part...

K, readers, flashback to when I shared my inspiration for my bridesmaids, I still love this look....remember it?  Ok, well style me pretty (my favorite blog) just shared a photo link to a shoot of two BFF brides which is awesome since a lot of my friends, including my MOH, are getting married soon (more of that for another day).  Here's the pick of the two brides, notice the necklaces (yes, my favorite detail of my wedding-to-be)...

Totally love the one on the right, right? Ok, well I'm on the track to creating these awesome necklaces for my girls (spoiler alert for the BMs reading this-sorry!)  I'm sure they already knew that thou. 

The colors are going to look awesome.  Since their dresses are fuchsia (yay!) with a pale pink sash, the necklace is sure to include the fabulous pale pink pearl.  All photos are sourced from Michael's  (could spend hourrrrs and a weeks worth of pay in that place.)

Then twisted in will be the original pearl color because we are doing the vintage vibe, remember...

The next color to be twisted, is the dark greyish colored pearl.  I love this accented color because it will match the boys who will be in their charcoal 3-piece-suit (opps, I will share that later too). I think this added touch will be awesome to bring cohesion to the bridal party , CK's team with my team

and then a little twist of the hot pink glass beads, just to throw a little of hot-pink in there for me, because well, life is better with a little bit of hot pink...

And then there will be a splash of glitz and glam, with these crystal beads, because after all that was a key part of vintage necklaces back in the day.

Lastly, they will be clasped with a pale pink bow, kinda like this look...(nothing that takes away from the actual necklace.)

If you are worried about if I can pull this off, well then you don't know me.  Its, ok, I wouldn't trust that I could do this either, if I didn't know me.  But dont' worry, They will look fabulous and a perfect part of my vintage-fall-glam wedding.  Can you picture it now??

So readers, if you have been following, then you know that I had to give my ring back to the jeweler to design the wedding band. Ck was pretty upset about this, but she promised him it would only be one week, two weeks tops.  His uncle's wedding was 4 weeks a way and my friend G's shower was 3 weeks away and he wanted to wait because he knew we'd be seeing people we hadnt seen in months.  She told him once again don't worry you will have it back, we need to do this now...

It's 5 weeks now and I still don't have my ring...

Sometimes, I feel like J Lo, with people whispering "oh where's the pink ring? Did something happen? Did they call the wedding off??"  No, but thanks for worrying so much about it :) Funny how a piece of jewelry can represent so much right? It's also funny how its kind of like a form of non-verbal communication to other people and you don't even realize it.  (plus, people always like to create more drama then needed)  The latest is that the jeweler is shooting to have the ring back to me next Wednesday (close to 6 weeks later).  Cross you ring fingers for me that I get my ring back sooner than later while I dodge all the gossip mags.

6 degrees of separation from Rush Limbaugh (not Kevin Bacon)

Has anyone ever heard of the "6 degrees of separation of Kevin Bacon"?  Well, if you google it, you will find numerous sites that discuss it.  Bottom-line, long story short, the concept is about how all of us are connected in a weird way when it comes down to it.  Due to the fact that I deal with a lot of people in my job, I am a firm believer that I seriously find weird connections with everyone.  With this being said, I share with you the latest celebrity wedding brought to you by the celebrity wedding blog found here.

Rush Limbaugh Says "I Do" for 4th Wedding

Ok, 4 weddings is a little much, (no offense to the brides out there).  But yes, he is married for the fourth time this weekend.  Now although he is controversial (which I hope I am not considered) he is also another "C" word that sounds similar, Conservative.  So here's how I am connect with these two love birds who have been dating for the past 6 years. I have three connections so far that I have figured out....

1. My father is very conservative and this has been imposed on me throughout the years.

2. The bride's name is Kathryn.  This is the exact spelling on my name as well.   Kathryn can be spelled many ways, so this is def. a connection.

3.  The last reason, is just spectacular, wait for....So this bride and groom are 26 years apart in age which the bride claims  "that their gap is what makes the romance work" Well their gap is the actual age of me.  26 :) Ha!!

Anyway, this leads to my discussion of la musica.  The report claims the couple paid 1 million dollars to have Sir Elton John sing at their wedding.  Well, though I love a man that's not afraid to wear pink, I am a little shocked that a conservative groom would choose this option but pretty awesome, minus the pay. 

For our wedding we will  NOT be paying 1 million dollars for the music, despite what CK and my mother may have wanted.  However, though this wasnt one of the details I was in charge of, I believe we will have a string quartet for the ceremony and cocktail hour...

And then we decided (as far I know) on a DJ for the reception.  I know that there is some controversy in the Wedding world with DJ vs. Band, but we had to be more practical in this sense.( i.e. DJ costs less.)

No, no we wont be having Lindsay Lohan's ex-girlfriend for our DJ, but I'm sure someone with a crazy personality, as most DJ's are.  CK had one request....no Rap.

And the wedding season begins...

So I'm pretty sure I told you that CK's GMOM has been praying for a wedding for years.  Well, God was listening this year because she got 4 engagements!! Now, I have previously talked about CK's cousin "happy" who is having a mexian fiesta next May and her sister, J, who is having the Penn State wedding this Aug, but his uncle also decided to have a wedding and picked the first week in June.  Therefore, they are the first ones to go :)

June is the month for weddings, everybody knows that June is THE month for the ideal wedding. Now, you know how I feel about these wedding rules, I mean why June?  I guess because the weather is usually pretty nice. However, while waiting for the train with Ck's cousin she told me that a wedding person she talked to earlier in the week said...

 "Well, you know October is the new June"

ha! who knew!?? But this isn't about me, its about CK's uncle's wedding. 

The bride had her ladies in eggplant dresses by Bill Levekoff (he has a huge variety if you dont have your dresses picked yet!) They looked similiar to this...

The Venue was beautiful...The Ceremony was in the ballroom (this is not a picture of their actual wedding but one of the site's website)... Those windows had a great view of the city.

And the curtains opened up to the great ballroom for the reception, while guests had a fabulous time eating amazing food during cocktail hour. The ballroom looked like this, notice the crowd molding (my artistic eye was in A.D.D heaven-always something to look at)...

But now on to the details of the table setting at the reception (so beautiful!). The bride used both red and gold to incorporate her Asian background)...(all personal photos taken by my awesome I-phone)...

First, the table numbers, we pretty cool...

Then the menu was uniquely placed and as soon as we sat down, a lady came over and took our main dish choice.  Now, J's fiance was a little confused by this and asked for a "Gin and Tonic Please" so that was good for a laugh.  Interesting concept though, that you don't pre-select you entree with the RSVP, right? the boys seemed to also be a little confused on why you had a regular plate and then a larger gold one, " Yes dear, that's called a charger plate".

And then the centerpieces, a thing brides stress over and over and over.  This wedding had three different ones.  One of the boys asked why the need for different ones.  I explained that its not appropriate to have all tall centerpieces because then they compete at the eye level, plus you also cant see as much (it was then that I thought, ugggh K you are such a bride)

and the last centerpiece was at our table...would you be surprised if I told you the topic of the table was the boys trying to decide how many beers could fit in the vase? 6? 8? 12? hmm...

Ok, so sorry that's all I've got, CK's started dancing and it was pretty distracting, so I forgot to take any more pics. But one of many weddings we will all be attending and I am so excited! Not only does it mean more excuses to buy new shoes and dresses but I get to see everyone more than I typical would, YAY!  Next up, J in August, tag you're it :)

Is June really the best month for weddings?? (p.s.- anyone seen Bridal Wars, they both haaaad to have a june wedding!)

This weekend CK played in the alumni Lax game that our high school does every summer.  It's kinda cool but also weird to go to our old stomping grounds.  We didnt bring suntan lotion, partly because we left it at the shore, partly because we were more focused on him not hurting his arm, and partly because we were stressed about having our clothes set out and ready for our return home to quickly get ready for his uncle's wedding (more on that for another post). So, my back got a little burnt, call it spectator's hazard, but luckily I was wearing a strapless shirt  He also has some fabulous tan lines for his pads and shorts.  But this got me thinking, tan lines for wedding pictures, no, no, no.  Kinda tacky.  So if you can prevent it, you should.  However, you dont want to go too crazy...

So, to help prevent it, this site, had some fabulous swim wear.  Jersey shore here I come....
